More Fantasy Film

Using a mixture of black and white fantasy film, marbled to make grey. I have braided wire into different sized loops and dipped the form into the fantasy film. It is totally malleable and I have coated it in hardener to add to it's durability.

My Latest Creation

Using fantasy film, one of the most magical things that I have ever found, I have started to coat wire braids to create jewellery pieces for my weave project at university.

I am going to invest in hardeners for the fantasy film to make them more hard wearing and suitable for jewellery pieces and experiment with different thicknesses of wire to achieve malleability with strength before I sell them!

A bit of back tracking is required here as I have only been using my blog for my jewellery posts but I have decided now that it should represent me as a designer and photographer too so many new posts will soon appear!

I have used all plastic yarns for the top sample, a mixture of plastic and natural yarns for the middle sample and all natural yarns for the bottom sample.

I prefer the all natural sample!

These samples are from my first second year project and are based on fishing and how like crafts, traditional techniques are being lost. unfortunately these are the only photos I have (taken on my phone) as the boards have been taken to be put up in the University at some point! but you get the general idea!

Cufflinks

here are examples of my cufflinks, I have used different kinds of american coins and computer keys, I also have some resin cufflinks too. I have a large variety of different coins including franks, pesetas and many more. prices range from £4-£5 depending on the size of the cufflinks.
The coins/resin are glued on with araldite so are very strong and the cufflink bases are silver plated.

Elisa Etemad from Stoke On Trent is a student at the University of Huddersfield studying Textile Crafts. Age 20 and having just finished her first year on the course, she has started up her own business selling her hand made jewellery through craft fairs and stalls as well as through her website. Elisa uses a mixture of recycled and new materials, such as zips, glass beads and silver plated wire, to create unique, quirky pieces of jewellery. She uses skills that she has obtained on her course and others that she has acquired from making things from an early age. ‘I started off making things when I was very young but at the point where most children stop I just carried on and now I am earning money from what was my hobby’.

Elisa started selling her jewellery to friends and family in April of this year, after getting a small start up loan of £50 from her mother who she was able to pay back after a couple of weeks. It was at that point she decided to pursue her hobby more seriously as a business, by creating a website and Facebook group to help advertise her business, having a one day stall at the Student’s Union and applying to participate in as many craft and summer fairs as she could. Elisa also has her jewellery for sale in two retail outlets.

On the 30th August Elisa will be opening Colonel Mustards, her fathers business premises in Uttoxeter, to sell her jewellery, tea, coffee and home made cakes. It is Elisa’s ambition to open up her own tearooms where customers can treat themselves to her hand made jewellery.
